MEET KATIE

I started my pottery journey in 2020 with air dry clay on the coffee table, trying to make little gifts and mementos. In 2023, after moving to Portland, OR, I took a class at a local studio looking to meet new people after moving to a new place. I fell in love and after the course wrapped up, I got a $200 wheel online and started throwing in my garage. I’ve picked up more tools one piece at a time until I’ve now spread out over half the garage space.

Slowly over the last year and a half, I’ve studied different aspects of pottery that appeal to me on whatever whim I have, which means I’m still building my style so I can spend time exploring!

I work primarily as a therapist in the field of mental health and after spending a day thinking and being emotionally present, setting time aside to work with my hands helps me find balance. I’m usually in my workshop / garage where I’m working on pottery or some sort of project for the 107 year-old house I share with my husband and our four pets, or just sitting and throwing the ball for my dog BMO for the ninth time that day !
